The term holiday romance is often used disparagingly

Author: Niamh

The term holiday romance is often used disparagingly. After all they often end in heartache. Wise friends often advise their holiday companions to enjoy themselves but not to believe the promises of a local Lothario. Sometimes, though, holiday magic does work and before too long an engagement is announced. Like every other engagement it is a cause for celebration. Someone at the party will undoubtedly toast the happy couple. What he says should revive those holiday memories summing up for those present how the couple met. So the speaker should do his research about that fateful holiday. Naturally too he will speak of love and marriage and wish the couple well in their future life together. Depending on where they met his final toast should be personal to the couple. If the met on a beach holiday for instance the toast might refer to their being together through the sands of time! Whatever the toast the speech should be upbeat and uplifting because an engagement is always a promise of better things to come.
