Has it ever occurred to you that a speech is like a feather? Just as a feather floats through the air making us watch it in spellbound fascination so too a speech can be light, airy and captivating. Just like a feather too a speech can sudden drop and the audience can lose interest. If you don’t want that to happen your speech has to have a format that will keep it absorbing all through. The beginning has to catch the attention of the audience by being different. Then you have to keep their attention by developing your theme in an interesting or informative manner. If you can add a personal touch so much the better. Some humour always adds to the speech and you should summarise your thoughts before ending on a thought-provoking or catchy note.
