Today is Columbus Day and it reminds us of the epic journeys he sailed. It is also a cause for disagreement because the question has to be asked how he could have discovered America if the indigenous Indians were there before him. Whatever about that his is an example of what man can achieve with patience and passion. He believed in what he was doing. Even when things went wrong on his journeys he kept going. Many Monarchs rejected his pleas to fund his journeys but he kept on trying until King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel finally agreed. Surely we can all learn a lesson from Columbus. Whatever about his grasp of geography he certainly followed his dreams. Perseverance was his keyword. Most of us have dreams too. If we are to succeed we need to have the same determination and the same doggedness as that we never take “No” as an answer.
